Texas Representative Beth Van Duyne (R) leaned into criticism of Democratic-led cities after New York Mayor Eric Adams (D) announced a lawsuit against 17 charter bus companies for participating in busing migrants from Texas.
“Sanctuary City Mayors in full meltdown now. These guys asked for this. If they were serious about making it stop, they’d demand Biden enforce our existing laws and call for Mayorkas to be impeached,” said Rep. Van Duyne in a tweet.

Republican and Democrat lawmakers have continuously clashed with each other on the best way to handle border security. That said, Democrats have mostly remained opposed to busing migrants despite hosting "sanctuary cities."
Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) has made extensive use of the popular Republican tactic of busing migrants who have illegally crossed the border. However, because of the use of this tactic, the governor has clashed with several Democratic lawmakers.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has continued to rip Gov. Abbott’s use of taxpayer dollars to dump large amounts of migrants into unfamiliar suburbs.
Last week, 350 migrants were put on buses from Texas and taken to various Chicago suburbs. Johnson continued, stating that the asylum seekers were left to navigate the suburbs without any guidance or specific place to go.
One of the Chicago lawmaker's main qualms with Gov. Abbott's antics was the fact that taxpayers had to pay for the flights which were on private planes.
Nevertheless, Gov. Abbott has not backed down from his controversial tactic. Despite some claiming that his busing is a political and inhumane stunt, the Texas governor released the following statement.
“Texas has transported over 95,000 migrants to sanctuary cities. Sanctuary cities like NYC & Chicago have seen only a FRACTION of what overwhelmed Texas border towns face daily. We will continue our transportation mission until Biden reverses course on his open border policies,” tweeted Gov. Abbott.
