Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) has commented on the murder of Laken Riley while also commenting on his support for stricter border security. While his efforts to secure the border have been deemed controversial, Republicans have praised Governor Abbott’s hardline stance. With illegal immigration being a pressing concern in the upcoming presidential election, Governor Abbott continues to warn that President Joe Biden (D) has been dangerous for the southern border.

Governor Abbott is keeping busy this week, campaigning for Alan Schoolcraft (R), providing an update on the Texas border wall construction, and commenting on the murder of 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley.

Riley was killed last Thursday after she had been jogging near a lake on the University of Georgia campus. The suspect in her killing is a 26-year-old illegal immigrant from Venezuela.

Republican lawmakers have since then attributed the murder to President Biden and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, arguing that both have mishandled immigration concerns in the country.

Taking to social media, Governor Abbot warned that “Biden has blood on his hands for the horrific murder of the student in Georgia.” “Her death is directly linked to Biden’s policy to release, dangerous illegal immigrants into our country,” the Texas governor added, calling for the president to “be held accountable for the slaughter of his fellow Americans.”

Governor Abbot also shared a diagram of the annual southwestern border apprehensions, showing a significant rise from 2000 to 2023. Under President Biden, Governor Abbot warns that the United States has faced “skyrocketing border apprehensions.”

“This doesn’t include the known got-a-ways or the illegal immigrants who were never detected,” the governor informed.

“Think of the murder victims by those let in by Biden like the woman in Georgia,” Governor Abbot added, warning that the United States cannot afford “4 more years of this crime racket.”
