Cruz Derides 'Partisan Abuse of Power' Against Trump

President Donald Trump (R) evaded a $454 million bond this week, but he's not out of the woods just yet. However, with rising poll numbers and the backing of Republican lawmakers, support for President Trump has not waned. As he braces to challenge his political woes, Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) is denouncing the "partisan abuse of power" being directed at President Trump.

During an interview with FOX News, the Texas Senator unloaded when questioned about President Trump's legal concerns. Deriding Attorney Alvin Bragg as a "George Soros DA," Senator Cruz warned that Bragg "was elected with millions from George Soros, and this is a partisan abuse of power."

"In more than 200 years of our nation's history, no president has been indicted, no former president has been indicted, Trump's been indicted four times."

Senator Cruz went on to criticize Democrats, calling them a threat to democracy. Echoing what President Trump said earlier this week when speaking on his reduced bond, the Texas Senator argued that Democrats are afraid of the upcoming election given a surge in polling for President Trump.

"Understand, when these partisan Democrats are going after Trump, yes, they hate him, but what this really is is they're attacking the American people. This is an assault on democracy because these prosecutors are terrified that the voters are going to reelect Donald Trump in November. They're trying to stop that, and every Democrat that beats their chest and says 'we're defending democracy' while turning a blind eye on this assault on democracy, they're guilty of historic levels of hypocrisy," Senator Cruz expressed.

A recent Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll indicates that President Biden's approval rating continues to take a hit. 38% of Democratic voters are disappointed with the president's time in office. 32% approve of his job on the economy, and 45% approve of his response to border security.
