President Donald Trump (R) attended a conference this afternoon hosted by the National Association of Black Journalists. The conference saw the former president answer questions regarding inflation, his vice presidential pick, and the state of the 2024 presidential election. The at times heated exchange between President Trump and the moderators has attracted controversy, but Texas Rep. Wesley Hunt (R) is defending the former president, assuring that "Trump has delivered for the black community."
President Trump faced questions from ABC News' Rachel Scott, Somafor's Kadia Goba, and Fox News' Harris Faulkner. During the interview, President Trump shared his support for presidential candidates to take a competency test, he rejected the idea that all Americans should own electric vehicles, and he presented himself as "a political opponent of two people who have weaponized the justice system."
Commenting on his appearance at the conference, Rep. Hunt took to social media to extend his support of President Trump's record, assessing that "he stood strong in the face of vicious attacks and gotcha questions, because that's what leaders do."
In the spirit of having an important conversation with the American people and the black community, President Trump went in person to NABJ today (unlike his Democrat opponent) who continues to take the black community for granted.

In sharing President Trump's record, the Texas Republican commented that "President Trump accomplished MORE for the Black Community than any other President in my lifetime. FULL STOP."
As part of the accomplishments he says President Trump delivered, Rep. Hunt detailed that the president is "responsible for the First Step Act (real criminal justice reform), historic funding of HBCUs (just like the one my parents attended), created opportunity zones, funded workforce development, was a CHAMPION for school choice, and delivered the greatest economy of our lifetime for Americans of ALL color."
Noting that "facts matter," Rep. Hunt went on to say that President Trump will again deliver for the American people if he's elected on November 5th, 2024.
The NABJ conference took place in Chicago, which is scheduled to host the Democratic National Convention in August.
