Nehls Cosponsors Gaetz Bill, Strips Funding From NGOs that Aid Entry of Illegal Immigrants

Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has introduced the Blocking Assistance and Resources to Restrict Illegal Entry and Residency (BARRIER) Act. This legislation blocks federal funding to non-government organizations (NGOs), non-profits, “or other entities that help migrants illegally enter the U.S. or give assistance to migrants unlawfully residing here.” Representatives Troy Nehls (R-TX) and Randy Weber (R-TX) co-sponsored the measure as well.

This move from Rep. Gaetz comes after the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) sent a letter to Representative Tony Gonzales (R-TX) detailing the rap sheet of illegal immigrants with charges or convictions.

The statistics demonstrated some alarming numbers, as there are 425,431 convicted criminals and 222,141 with pending criminal charges. These figures do include those in detention.

Of those criminals, 13,099 have been convicted of homicide, 15,811 have been convicted of sexual assault. Moreover, 62,231 have been convicted of assault, and 56,533 have been found guilty of a drug charge.

Furthermore, Rep. Gaetz’s bill also penalizes organizations assisting illegal migrants already living in the United States, per Fox News.

He said this of his new bill:

“NGOs and non-profits serve as the foot soldiers for the Biden-Harris administration’s mass-migration policies by helping illegal aliens cross the border and stay here for years after illegally. My legislation, the BARRIER Act, will strip these organizations of their federal funding, which can be used to assist those who break federal law. The federal government should not be financing the destruction of its own country.”

Rep. Nehls stated that he is a “proud cosponsor” of the bill. He recently criticized the Biden-Harris administration, saying it is putting the “American people last” as it provided over $1 billion to illegal immigrants through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

“The Harris-Biden Administration spent OVER $1,000,000,000 in FEMA funds on services for illegal aliens,” said Rep. Nehls. “Meanwhile, Mayorkas says FEMA doesn’t have enough money to make it through the rest of hurricane season. This administration continues to put the American people last.”

Americans will have the choice between former President Donald Trump (R) and Vice President Kamala Harris (D) on Nov. 5.
