Earlier this month, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) (D) journeyed to Texas to campaign on behalf of Texas Rep. Colin Allred (D). Rep. Allred is looking to unseat Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R). With the future of the Senate hanging in the balance, Rep. Allred would further establish Democratic control. Responding to comments Rep. AOC made during the campaign event, Senator Cruz warns that the election could indeed “change America for a generation.”
During the campaign event in Marcos, Texas, Rep. AOC spoke to Rep. Allred’s supporters, noting that Texas is important because… when we win Texas… we transform this country for a generation.” Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders (I), Texas Rep. Greg Casa (D), and former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D) were also in attendance.
Responding to Rep. AOC’s comments, Senator Cruz said that she right about the election being important, but it could lead to a disastrous outcome.
Appearing on FOX News’ Life, Liberty & levin with Mark Levin, Senator Cruz discussed his upcoming election, and he discussed that he hasn’t received the support from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R).
“Both Bernie and AOC were in Texas campaigning to support Colin, and AOC said, ‘if we win Texas, we change America for a generation,” Senator Cruz warned. “That is what the stakes are.”
The Texas Senator shared that his reelection race is extremely close, noting that it can come down to a “1-point race, or a 2-point race, or a 3-point race.” Having recently aired tv-ads, Senator Cruz suggested he would’ve been on tv earlier, but “we’re being massively outspent.”
This, he says, comes down to the support that he isn’t receiving from Senator McConnell.
“Chuck Schumer has been explicit – I’m his No. 1 target in the country,” Senator Cruz commented. “They are spending between 100 and 150 million dollars trying to beat me.”
Instead of receiving backing from Senator McConnell, Senator Cruz says that he hasn’t received “a penny.”
