Cruz Says President Biden Pardoned Hunter 'to Protect Himself'

The political world is still questioning President Joe Biden's (D) decision to pardon his son Hunter Biden. After repeatedly discounting the move, the incumbent president announced late last weekend that he would be pardoning his son. With the political world divided on President Biden's decision, Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) argues that the pardon was granted to protect President Biden.

Late Sunday evening, President Biden announced that he would be pardoning his son just days away from his scheduled sentencing for gun and tax evasion charges. Republicans immediately denounced the pardon, calling it a weaponization of the government. Democrats similarly expressed outrage over President Biden's decision to pardon Hunter.

Republicans like Senator Cruz are now warning that the action serves more than just pardoning the president's son. In fact, they argue that the pardon was issued to protect the incumbent president himself given that the pardon covers Hunter Biden's time while working for the controversial company Burisma.

During an interview with Newsmax, Senator Cruz commented on the pardon, reminding that he estimated President Biden would issue a pardon around December. Moreover, he accused the White House and President Biden's surrogates of lying after they repeatedly affirmed that the president would not be pardoning his son.

"The investigation of Hunter Biden, at the end of the day, was never about Hunter. It was always about Joe Biden and the Biden family corruption," Senator Cruz clarified. "Hunter Biden has no marketable skills. What Hunter Biden did was sell favors from Daddy to make millions and millions of dollars," the Texas Senator further commented.

"People don't hire a crackhead for their skills."

In a statement announcing the pardon, President Biden explained why he was pardoning his son, commenting that "I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision."
