Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D) has intensified her criticism of the Trump Administration by targeting Elon Musk, who’s heading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Like many Texas Democrats, Rep. Crockett has expressed deep concerns over Musk's influence within the federal government.
In a recent social media post, Rep. Crockett accused Musk of being “an immigrant taking people’s jobs.”
"He's snatching farms, government jobs (even those in which they manage our national security), and definitely those whose jobs are to root out fraud (inspector generals), & those that are keeping us safe (FAA), meals on wheels workers, head start, and the list goes on," she wrote on X.

Since assuming his new role under the Trump Administration, Musk has not only shared what he believes is waste, fraud, and abuse in the government, but he has also made suggestions regarding cuts in “wasteful” spending. The suggestions have drawn immense criticism from the president’s detractors, and it has also led to protests calling on Musk to be removed.
Texas Rep. Greg Casar (D), who’s called on Musk to be removed, recently voiced apprehension, particularly regarding Musk's financial entanglements with the federal government.
During a recent House subcommittee hearing, Rep. Casar questioned the daily financial benefits Musk receives from federal contracts, emphasizing the substantial sum of "$8 million a day." He further criticized the administration's actions, stating that President Donald Trump (R) and Musk are "recklessly and illegally dismantling the federal government, shuttering federal agencies, firing federal workers, withholding funds, and hacking sensitive data systems."
These criticisms come amidst Musk's aggressive efforts to reduce government size and expenditure. Recent reports indicate that DOGE has overseen the termination of approximately 85,000 federal employees, with significant cuts in departments such as Veterans Affairs, Nuclear Security, and the IRS. These actions have raised alarms about potential disruptions in essential services, including wildfire prevention and tax administration.
