The Tarrant County GOP has released its first report to the Texas Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Committee, alleging widespread government waste amounting to at least $200 million in unnecessary spending.
In a press release issued over the weekend, the Tarrant County GOP stated that these identified expenses could be cut “without question”, while additional “highly suspicious” expenditures would require further investigation. The Texas Republicans are calling on the committee to compel testimony and document production to fully uncover the scope of the alleged waste.
Tarrant County GOP Chair Bo French (R) took to X to highlight key findings from the report.
🚨First Report to the TX DOGE Committee🚨
Last week I teased my government waste report to the Texas House's DOGE Committee, and the first one is finally here. This is just some of the low hanging fruit we found but it totals $200 million per year. Here are some highlights:…

“The Texas Government spends $5 million per year on late payment fees,” Chair French wrote, listing several expenditures he finds questionable, including six-figure foreign travel expenditures from employee retirement funds, $11 million spent on "long-distance communications charges," $60 million per year for the Texas Lottery to pay its friends, 100% of Broadband Infrastructure Fund spending going to late fees and consultants, $15 million per year given to organizations like the Austin Gay Men's Chorus, and $21 million per year for media subscriptions, including $30,000 per year to the left-wing, anti-Abbott Quorum Report.
“This is just scratching the surface. It gets much worse,” Chair French added, suggesting that certain expenditures are so obscured that they cannot yet determine the full extent of waste or fraud.
The report also claims that one business consultancy firm receives $2 billion per year in taxpayer dollars, an amount that the Tarrant County GOP chair argues demonstrates a clear opportunity for billions in potential savings.
The full six-page report is now available on the Tarrant County GOP website and has been distributed to members of the DOGE Committee. Chair French confirmed that this is only the first of multiple reports, promising that the next report will expose even greater waste.
