Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) has announced his senatorial campaign, and with his announcement, he wants you to know that Texas Senator John Cornyn (R) is as "anti-Trump" as you could possibly be.
When Senator Cornyn announced his reelection campaign last month, he released an advertisement aligning himself with President Donald Trump (R).
"In President Trump's first term, I was Republican whip, delivering the votes for [President Trump's] biggest wins," Senator Cornyn said in the advertisement, adding that it was now time for Texans to reelect him, "so President Trump and I can pick up where we left off."

However, Attorney General Paxton now wants to set the record straight, letting voters know that Senator Cornyn doesn't support the president as much as he claims to.
The new advertisement from the Paxton campaign shares several interviews wherein "John Cornyn turned his back on President Trump." The attorney general shared the advertisement on social media with the caption "Texas deserves better, and that’s why I’m running for U.S. Senate."
In one interview segment after the 2020 election, Senator Cornyn is asked about comments he made where he suggested that the Republican Party should "move on from President Trump." In response, Senator Cornyn said, "In politics, unless you can win an election, you're pretty much irrelevant."
In another segment, a reporter shares that "John Cornyn of Texas told CBS News he simply doesn't think Donald Trump can get elected president."
From there, the advertisement goes on to claim that Senator Cornyn supports policies opposite the "America First" agenda like supporting amnesty, fighting against the building of a border wall, and even working to take away gun rights from Americans.
After months of speculation, the attorney general has finally announced that he is going to primary Senator Cornyn, who's hoping that Texans will send him back to the U.S. Senate in the upcoming 2026 midterm election.
"John Cornyn doesn't share our values," the advertisement claims, and the "change" Americans are looking for is the attorney general. Presenting himself as a "conservative fighter they couldn't cancel," Attorney General Paxton now joins a senate race that's sure to be closely watched as election season unfolds.
