Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick (R) officially announced his campaign for re-election in 2026 following an endorsment from President Donald Trump, emphasizing his commitment to a conservative agenda and highlighting legislative accomplishments during the current session.

In a public statement released this week, Patrick said, “This Legislative Session we have already passed the most conservative agenda in Texas history – including school choice, property tax relief, investing in our water infrastructure, our electric grid, banning non-citizens from voting, and returning prayer and the Ten Commandments to our public schools.”

With the Texas Legislative Session now past its halfway point, Patrick noted that the timing of his announcement was strategic. “With the Legislative Session past the half-way point and many of our priority bills passed, I am announcing my 2026 re-election campaign,” he said. “A more formal kickoff will come following the Session, but I wanted to make my intentions known and official.”

Lt. Gov. Patrick, a leading conservative voice in the state, enters the race with an early endorsement from President Donald Trump (R).

“I am pleased and honored my very first re-election endorsement came from my friend and ally President Donald J. Trump,” Patrick stated.

President Donald Trump  released a statement, praising Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick for being the Texas Chair of Trumps Presidential Campaigns.

“Dan has been an incredible friend to our Movement, helping us WIN BIG in the Primaries and General Elections.” Said President Trump. “In his next Term, Dan will fight tirelessly alongside of us.”

Despite launching his campaign, Patrick emphasized that his current focus remains on legislative work.

“The campaign will begin soon enough, but with seven weeks still to go in the Legislative Session, my focus remains on the work to be done at the Capitol for the people of Texas.”

As Lieutenant Governor since 2015, Patrick has played a central role in shaping state policy, particularly on issues related to education, taxes, energy, and election integrity. His early announcement is seen as a signal of political momentum and intent to continue leading the state’s conservative agenda.

Patrick concluded his statement by reaffirming his dedication to his office.

“I look forward to continuing the fight for conservative values and delivering results for Texans.”

His re-election bid sets the stage for what is likely to be a closely watched race in 2026, with broader implications for the state’s political direction.
