State Rep. Steve Toth (R) has endorsed state Senator Mayes Middleton (R) for Texas Attorney General. The endorsement comes after Attorney John Bash (R), the only other challenger, bowed out of the race.

State Senator Middleton now stands as the sole candidate in what is shaping up to be a clear path to the Republican nomination.

State Rep. Toth, a prominent conservative voice in the Texas Legislature, took to social media to voice his enthusiastic support for his former Texas House colleague, calling him a “proven, rock-solid conservative.”

In his post, state Rep. Toth praised state Senator Middleton’s early efforts to take on entrenched political interests in Austin, particularly highlighting his opposition to taxpayer-funded lobbying.

“When Mayes came into the House with me in 2019, he jumped right into the fire,” the Texas Republican wrote. “He’s a proven, rock-solid conservative who fights to take on the cartels and secure the border, defends Texas families, and stands strong for President Trump and the America First agenda.”

State Senator Middleton, who currently represents Senate District 11, has built a reputation as a staunch conservative aligned with President Donald Trump’s (R) priorities. He has backed legislation aimed at strengthening border security, limiting government spending, and pushing back against what he and Republicans call “radical, woke policies.”

State Rep. Toth’s endorsement adds to the growing momentum behind state Senator Middleton’s candidacy as he positions himself as the successor to current Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), who vows to unseat Senator John Cornyn (R).

“I know Mayes Middleton, and I know he’ll fight to keep Texas, Texas,” state Rep. Toth concluded in his statement.
