The Texas House of Representatives remains embroiled in controversy following the election of House Speaker Dustin Burrows (R), an election that has spurred infighting among Republicans. Critics within the GOP are now sharing their disappointment in President Donald Trump (R) endorsing those same Republicans who propelled Speaker Burrows to his office.
Speaker Burrows’ leadership has faced immense scrutiny since he ascended to the speakership. He's been accused of empowering Democrats in the Texas House, fueling complaints of betrayal and growing discontent among the GOP’s conservative base.
Tarrant County Republican Party Chair Bo French (R), a staunch supporter of President Trump, added fuel to the fire this week by publishing a scathing article on X regarding the president's recent endorsements.

The Republican chair, calling the endorsed Republican lawmakers “RINOs” (Republicans in Name Only), accused them of aligning with Democrats.
“In Texas we have a huge problem,” French wrote. “We have a Republican Governor and a Republican majority Senate. But we have a Republican majority House where a small minority of RINOs teams up with the Democrats for power. Together, they kill most Republican priorities and pass a ton of Democrat bills.”
Chair French further criticized the president’s endorsement strategy, calling it a “colossal misstep” that risks derailing conservative progress in Texas.
“I am not blaming him,” Chair French said of President Trump, “but I am saying someone on his team is a literal r***** who has no flipping idea what is at stake in Texas.”
“These RINOs are traitors to the people who voted for Donald Trump,” the chair warned. “They literally hate us. But now, they are going to go around and brag about the Trump endorsement as if they actually like him or his voters.”
President Trump maintains an influence in the Lone Star state, but the endorsements have drawn ire from conservatives who are dissatisfied with Republicans in the Texas House.
