The Trump Organization has announced its new telecommunications venture with a new cellular phone service called T1 Phone by Trump Mobile. The service offers unlimited calls, texts, and data for $47.45 per month.
The service plan, named the “47 Plan,” offers no-contract and no-credit-check plan, and it’s named after President Donald Trump (R) current term as the 47th president of the United States.
The Trump Organization plans to launch a U.S.-made smartphone in August for $499. The gold-colored phone, which is emblazoned with “Make America Great Again,” will feature 256GB of storage, 12GB of RAM, facial recognition, and a fingerprint sensor.
In an interview on Fox Business, Eric Trump said the initiative aligns with his father’s “America First” agenda. “We want to have phones built by Americans, for Americans,” he said. “We're going to disrupt the space.”
The service includes benefits like free international calls to over 100 countries, including nations with U.S. military bases, 24/7 roadside assistance through Drive America, and telehealth services.
The announcement appears aimed at challenging tech companies like Apple, which President Trump recently criticized for manufacturing outside of the U.S.
Last month, President Trump threatened to impose a 25% tariff on Apple products if the company didn’t bring more production to the U.S. Analysts have said that manufacturing iPhones domestically could drive the price up to $3,500.
However, ethics experts are raising alarms. Robert Weissman, the co-president of Public Citizen, warned of “a real distortion of the economy around the Trump brand.” “My message to hard-working Americans is to slam down the phone in the face of this marketing ploy,” he said.
Despite the controversy, Eric Trump emphasized the brand’s ambitions.
“It’s going to be cheaper,” he expressed, adding that it would include “more internet, more international dialing. It is the biggest bang for the buck.”
