Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) delivered a forceful defense of Israel’s military strikes against Iran, framing them as both justified and strategically beneficial to the United States.
“Number one, most importantly, I want to state I stand unequivocally with the state of Israel,” Sen. Cruz said, opening his remarks with a clear declaration of support.
Senator Cruz, a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, alleviated fears of broader war. “Listen, this is not World War III,” he said. “Iran has been trying to wage World War III for their entire existence, ever since the Islamic Revolution.”
Sen. Cruz pointed to the longstanding hostility of the Iranian regime, citing its anti-Western and anti-Israel rhetoric. “The Ayatollah regularly leads mobs in Iran chanting ‘Death to America, Death to Israel,’” he noted.
Recent Israeli strikes, which reportedly targeted senior Iranian military figures and nuclear infrastructure, earned Cruz’s full backing.
“Israel is doing America an enormous favor by taking out Iran’s nuclear capability,” he said. “This is a highly targeted, but very serious military assault where they have taken out their senior military leadership.”
He argued that degrading Iran’s nuclear program directly benefits U.S. national security.
“Bombing facilities, degrading Iran’s ability to build a nuclear warhead, that is very good for America,” Cruz said. “Because let’s be clear: if Iran got a nuclear weapon, there is a high possibility Iran would try to murder Americans.”
Cruz also referenced the posture of the Trump administration toward Iranian aggression.
“Understand, if you attack American military bases, if you kill even one American serviceman or woman, President Trump (R) will respond with overwhelming force,” he warned.
As tensions continue to rise in the Middle East, Cruz’s remarks underscore the Republican alignment with Israel. His statements stand in contrast to calls from some international leaders urging de-escalation and diplomacy.
