Governor Greg Abbott (R) announced today that John Paul Mitchell Systems (JPMS), the globally recognized professional hair care brand, will relocate its corporate headquarters from California to Dallas County, Texas. The move includes the creation of a new global product distribution center in the city of Wilmer, bringing 80 new jobs and over $12 million in capital investment to the region.
“Texas is the headquarters of headquarters,” Gov. Abbott said. “This $12 million investment by John Paul Mitchell Systems to expand their corporate headquarters to Texas and establish a new global product distribution center in Wilmer will create 80 new good-paying jobs for hardworking Texans.”
To support the project, the state has extended a $640,000 Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant to JPMS, along with an $8,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus. The TEF is a performance-based incentive designed to attract business expansion projects that bring high-quality jobs and capital investment to Texas communities.
John Paul DeJoria, co-founder of JPMS and longtime Texas resident, praised the support.
“I’m honored that John Paul Mitchell Systems was selected as a grant recipient through the Texas Enterprise Fund. I know this initiative plays a key role in encouraging businesses like ours to invest in the local economy. We’re grateful to Governor Abbott and the State of Texas for their warm welcome and support,” she expressed.
Local leaders welcomed the move as a major boost for southern Dallas County.
Senator Royce West (D) emphasized the significance of the expansion, saying, “The expansion of this global company will bring jobs to the area as well as contribute to the economic success of Dallas County and our state.”
State Representative Aicha Davis also highlighted the region’s readiness for growth.
“Our district is bustling with opportunity, and we have a talented workforce here ready to fill these new high-paying jobs,” she said.
Wilmer Mayor Sheila Petta described the development as a milestone for the city. “This investment brings not only new jobs and economic development but also increased visibility to Wilmer as a destination for major industry.”
Economic Development Director Rona Stringfellow echoed that sentiment, citing Wilmer’s infrastructure and pro-business environment as key factors in attracting JPMS.
“We are committed to supporting JPMS’s growth and success, and we look forward to the positive impact this expansion will have on our community,” she said.
JPMS products are distributed in more than 30 countries under brands including Paul Mitchell, Tea Tree, and Neuro.
