Senator John Cornyn’s (R) re-election campaign announced it had fundraised $3.9 million for the second quarter of 2025, bolstering his war chest to a total of $8.9 million on hand.
The figure includes contributions to both his campaign and the Cornyn Victory Committee, marking a strong show of support as he protects his senate seat in a GOP primary against Attorney General Ken Paxton (R).
"Senator Cornyn is one of the most effective members of the U.S. Senate and has been a stalwart ally of President Trump, voting more than 99.2% of the time with him while President," said Senator Cornyn’s re-election campaign manager Andy Hemming. “So it should be no surprise that our re-election campaign would report a strong haul in the second quarter of 2025.”
Senator Cornyn’s campaign emphasized that the funds would be used to highlight his conservative record and contrast it with what it described as Attorney General Paxton’s “ethical failures” and “mismanagement” during his time as attorney general.
“We are confident that we are on track to have the necessary resources to communicate to Texas GOP primary voters … and provide facts about Ken Paxton’s repeated mismanagement of his office,” Hemming added.
Earlier this month, Attorney General Paxton’s campaign also announced impressive numbers, raising $2.9 million in the same quarter, which is a record-breaking sum for a challenger in a Texas Senate primary. The attorney general called it a sign of “massive enthusiasm” to unseat Senator Cornyn, whom he labels an “establishment insider.”
"The grassroots movement to fire John Cornyn continues to grow stronger every single day, and this is only just the beginning," the attorney general said in a statement, branding himself a “conservative warrior” loyal to President Donald Trump (R).
While Cornyn maintains institutional support and financial advantage, Attorney General Paxton’s campaign has surged with grassroots energy.
