WASHINGTON— Representative Brandon Gill (R) is calling for increased deportations of undocumented immigrants and suggested the U.S. should “militarize the border” if needed during recent interview with Texas Politics.
“I think that to the extent that we’re seeing a mass influx of illegal aliens, which has quelled under the Trump administration, we should, when necessary, militarize the border,” Gill said.
“Now that the border is largely secure and that there are things being put in place to keep it secure, [we need to] continue the deportations and ramp them up,” he explained.
Gill took a firm stance on undocumented immigrants, stating: “The people who came here illegally have no right to be here. They have no claim to our resources. They need to go back to where they came from.”
The remarks reflect Gill’s support for a return to stricter immigration enforcement, reflecting current Trump-era policies. His comments come amid ongoing debates in Washington over how to handle border security and the millions of undocumented immigrants currently in the U.S.
Gill’s position aligns with other Republicans who argue that stronger enforcement protects national resources and upholds the rule of law. Opponents warn that mass deportations and militarizing the border could raise human rights concerns and disrupt communities.
As the Trump administration moves forward with its immigration agenda in 2025, Gill’s statements signal strong support from newer members of Congress for hardline measures.
