The race for Senator John Cornyn’s (R) seat has taken another turn as the incumbent senator is now facing scrutiny over his biggest donors.

In an X post, Laura Loomer, a conservative pundit, disclosed documents showing that Senator Cornyn’s biggest backers for the super PAC behind his primary ads are, in fact, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R) and Democratic donors.

In the post, Loomer argues that despite Senator Cornyn’s pro-Trump ads, which are run by Texans for Conservative Majority, the donor list tells a different story.

According to the information she shared, Senator Cornyn’s major contributors are the following:

Trevor D. Rees‑Jones donated $100,000 to Texans for a Conservative Majority on March 27, 2023 and previously donated $500,000 to the Stand for America PAC (Nikki Haley’s group) on November 29, 2023, plus another $5,000 in June 2023, explicitly “to stop President Trump from winning the 2024 election.”

Ray L. Hunt gave $150,000 to Cornyn’s PAC in April 2025, after donating $605,000 into Stand for America in 2023, again backing Governor Haley over President Trump.

Alexander Karp, the founder of Palantir, donated $255,000 in May 2025.

Loomer noted that in the past, Karp provided two $2,700 donations to Secretary Hillary Clinton (D) in October 2016, and publicly stated in July 2024 that although he was “not thrilled” with the Democratic Party, he still planned on voting against President Trump.

“The biggest donors to Cornyn’s PAC… are all Trump haters, [Nikki Haley] donors and Democrat donors,” Loomer wrote. She further argued that the senator should “apologize to the people of Texas for his outright lies.”

The battle between Senator Cornyn and Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) has grown bitter as both officials have directed attacks against each other. Attorney General Paxton has led in the polls, but recent controversy surrounding alleged infidelity could alter the course of the race.

Former Governor Rick Perry (R) wrote an op-ed in support of Senator Cornyn's re-election, and President Donald Trump (R) has not yet shared an endorsement.
