Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) is endorsing Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) in his run for Texas Attorney General in a post to X (formerly Twitter).

As we covered earlier, Rep. Roy announced his campaign in a press release, saying, "It has been my honor to represent the 21st Congressional District of Texas – the best part of the best state in the greatest country in the history of the world. But representatives should not be permanent."

"I want to take my experience in Congress, as a federal prosecutor, and as First Assistant Attorney General to fight for Texas from Texas," Rep. Roy added.

In a post to X, the Texas Congressman similarly stated, "Texas has a long and proud tradition of rising to defend our homes, our freedom, and our communities. I'm running for Attorney General to carry on that legacy… unafraid to fight, unafraid to win, and unafraid to defend Texas at every turn. #LiveFree"

Replying to this tweet, Rep. Donalds called Roy his "good friend" and signaled his complete endorsement.

".@chiproytx has my full endorsement to be the next Attorney General of Texas. It's been an honor to fight alongside my good friend, battling the radical left, and securing conservative victories in the halls of Congress. I have no doubt that Chip will do the same for Texans," Rep. Donalds said.

Roy is set to face off against two State Senators, Mayes Middleton (R) and Joan Huffman (R), and former Department of Justice official Aaron Reitz (R) in what is expected to be a heated primary.

This is not the first time Roy or Donalds have had each other's backs, as the Texas Congressman previously endorsed his Florida counterpart for Speaker of the House in October 2023 after the ousting of Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

"Byron is a strong communicator backed by a conservative voting record who has simultaneously played a central role in bringing together members from across the Republican conference to advance conservative priorities," Roy said of Donalds, adding, "To that end, I plan to hold Speaker Donalds just as accountable to those priorities as I did Speaker McCarthy, just as Byron would expect me to do. The American people deserve to win again. They deserve someone who can finish the job we started back in January. They deserve a change and Byron Donalds is the man to deliver that change."
