Pacifico Energy has announced development plans for GW Ranch, a large-scale off-grid power generation campus located in Pecos County, Texas.
Spanning over 8,000 acres, the project is purpose-built to support the expanding demands of AI infrastructure and hyperscale data centers, with construction having been underway since early 2024.
GW Ranch will deliver 5 gigawatts (GW) of dedicated power through a combination of high-efficiency natural gas turbines and 1.8 GW of advanced battery storage.
Operators designed the facility to operate completely off-grid, giving them direct control over their energy supply. Engineers designed the project for extremely high reliability, targeting 99.999% uptime through N+2 redundancy and dual independent gas pipelines.
“GW Ranch isn’t just about scale—it’s about certainty,” said Constantyn Gieskes, Vice President at Pacifico Energy. “By building off-grid and working hand-in-hand with local officials, we’re delivering the speed, reliability, and responsible development that our customers and communities both demand.”
Unlike traditional projects, GW Ranch avoids grid delays by not relying on public interconnection. It plans to deliver 1 GW by 2028 and reach 5 GW of power by 2030. The project is undergoing TCEQ permitting and has gained support from local leaders.
“Pecos County’s continued effort to diversify the local economy directly aligns with the development of GW Ranch,” said Remie Ramos, Pecos County Economic Development Director. “It will create new jobs, boost the tax base, and have minimal impact on water and infrastructure.”
GW Ranch will operate fully independent from the ERCOT grid. This means it won’t affect consumer electricity prices or grid stability. Its modular design allows it to scale as demand grows, especially from energy-intensive industries like artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
The site is future-ready and engineered to accommodate emerging technologies as they reach commercial viability.
GW Ranch emphasizes speed-to-deployment, energy security, and infrastructure resilience. It positions West Texas as a national leader. The project supports the next generation of AI and digital innovation.
