The Expansion includes a 80,00 square-foot addition to the existing office space, and construction is scheduled to begin on September 24. The investment provides SpaceX with a significant amount of growth in the region. The expansion is expected to contribute to job growth and innovation.
Governor Greg Abbott responded to the announcement, highlighting support from the Texas Semiconductor innovation Fund.
"SpaceX is growing in Bastrop. Thanks to a 17.3 million Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund grant, this expansion will bring more jobs, innovation, and will strengthen Starlink's impact worldwide," the governor commented.
As construction progresses, the Bastrop facility is likely to grow SpaceX's capacity and support ongoing projects planned by Musk. One of which being the global Starlink satellite internet initiative. The company's investment is an indicator of confidence in the area and its workforce.
The construction is expected to be completed by January 2026.
