William J. Berger, founder of Sunnova Energy International, has launched a new energy startup, Otovo USA. The company enters the U.S. Market with over $4 million in seed funding, beginning in Texas, which is noted as a growing hub for solar and storage innovation.
Berger describes Otovo USA as an integrated home "power partner."
The service would offer a single membership that combines retail electricity, system maintenance, and grid participation. Homeowners can also include solar panels, batteries, EV chargers, standby generators, and load management devices. All of which would be managed through one AI-driven platform.
Central to Otovo USA's service is Endurance. Endurance is a proprietary AI platform that actively manages and optimizes behind-the-meter energy systems. It handles tasks like automated diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and intelligent energy shifts, such as storing power when prices are low and exporting to the grid during high pricing.
"Otovo is a European Leader in residential power and we're combining its deep operating expertise with a new AI-Based platform to deliver one simple, always-on service," said Berger.
Otovo USA's partner company Otovo, located in Europe, has helped homeowners across 13 counties adop solar solutions. Otovo founder Andreas Thorsheim noted that the U.S. launch targets a larger market, with 26 million homes across the U.S. and Europe that already have energy management assets.
Texas serves as a strategic first market as the state has over 3.9 million single-family homes with credit-qualified energy systems. This creates a new customer base for Otovo USA's unified offering.
Otovo USA aims to be the intelligent service that cuts cost, boosts resilience, and simplifies energy ownership.
