U.S. Representative Roger Williams (R) led a letter to Ambassador Mike Waltz, head of the United States Mission to the United Nations, expressing deep concern over what he described as the U.N.'s legitimization of Hamas in its handling of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
In his letter, Williams stated that the U.N. has allowed "terrorism to masquerade as humanitarianism" by amplifying claims of famine in Gaza while ignoring Hamas' role in diverting aid.

"As America's voice at the U.N., we call on the Honorable Mike Waltz to resist efforts to whitewash Hamas' human rights abuses," Williams urged. "When the U.N. ignores a manufactured famine used to control a population, it abandons its founding principles."
In the letter, Williams and his colleagues criticize the organization for enabling Hamas by allowing it to seize control of humanitarian aid intended for civilians. They argue that food and relief efforts from Israel and the United States have been obstructed, either rejected by the U.N. or captured by Hamas for profit.
The lawmakers also pointed to the U.N.'s reliance on the United Nations Relief and Works for Palestine Refugees, alleging that the group has permitted Hamas to hoard resources. They urged Ambassador Waltz to use his position to "unequivocally condemn" what they describe as misinformation campaigns that undermine the reputations of both the U.S. and Israel.
Williams emphasized that the United States must stand firmly with Israel and oppose narratives that, in his view, legitimize terrorism under the guise of humanitarian relief.
