A shooting has been reported at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Dallas. The shooting left three people wounded, and the shooter has reportedly taken his own life.
According to sources, the shooter was a sniper on a roof that was armed with a rifle.
Police have identified the shooter as a white man who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head as agents approached him. The name of the shooter has not been released.
Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said that the victims may include agency employees, visiting civilians, or detainees, though the identities and conditions have not been disclosed.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem commented on the shooting.
“We can confirm there are multiple injuries and fatalities,” Secretary Noem informed. While authorities have not released a motive, Secretary Noem noted that the incident comes amid what she described as “an uptick of targeting of ICE agents” nationwide.
Local and federal law enforcement secured the facility following the attack, and emergency responders transported the wounded to area hospitals.
Texas officials immediately took to social media to comment on the shooting, sharing their concern.

Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) called on his followers to pray for those affected in the shooting.
“We will continue to do everything in our power to combat the alarming increase of targeted attacks against ICE and all law enforcement by evil, twisted individuals.
State Rep. Gina Hinojosa (D) echoed his remarks, writing, "Texans have been targeted & killed."
"We mourn the dead & condemn this act of violence," she added. "While we wait for more information, let's not give the killer notoriety by ascribing meaning to this depraved act of cowardice."
