Texas & USA American Flag
Scott MacLeod, decorated veteran, entrepreneur, and educator, has announced his candidacy for Conress in Texas's 10th Congressional District. He pledges to bring "Texas grit and America First Priorities" to Washington.
MacLeod is a retired Army Colonel, but served more than 30 years in the U.S. Army, commanding troops in Iraq, leading disaster response during Hurricane Harvey, and overseeing President Trump's first National Guard Border deployment to combat illegal immigration and human trafficking.
"I've spent my life serving this country and state," said MacLeod. "Washington needs leaders who understand mission, accountability, and results, and someone who won't waver from Trump's America First agenda."
MacLeod was born in Channelview, Texas, and was raised by a single mother. He was able to rise from Private to Colonel, earning multiple military decorations for leadership and service.
During Hurricane Harvey, he led Joint Task Force Harvey, commanding more than 6,000 soldiers and Marines to protect Texans during one of the state's worst natural disasters. Shortly after, he directed a 2,000-member border security mission under President Trump's orders.
After he retired from the military, MacLeod became the CEO of a Texas-based technology firm developing training programs for first responders and hospitals.
He currently serves as the head of a private Christian school in the Austin area, mentoring young leaders.
"We don't need another ladder climber running for Congress," said MacLeod. "Washington is broken and run by career politicians. We need strong, America First conservatives who've fought for Texas, and I'm ready to do it again in Congress."
MacLeod's announcement highlights a current want, shared by many, to remove career politicians and allow new faces to enter Congress.
