Earlier this month, Rep. Gina Hinojosa (D) announced her intention to turn Texas blue, and the gubernatorial hopeful has now received endorsements from candidates who want to help her change the political tide.
This week, former Rep. Colin Allred (D) and state Rep. James Talarico (D) both endorsed Rep. Hinojosa for Texas Governor, sharing high praise for the Texas progressive.
Both Allred and Talarico are engaged in a Democratic primary as they look to unseat incumbent Senator John Cornyn (R). However, despite the challenge ahead, neither candidate has shifted gears to aggressively campaign against the other.
In a statement, state Rep. Talarico cited his experience with working alongside the gubernatorial hopeful.
Thank you @jamestalarico for endorsing my campaign for governor. After working together in the Texas House to call out Greg Abbott’s voucher scam, James knows how hard I’m willing to fight for working families. pic.twitter.com/WNj1byuVFq

"I sit right next to Gina Hinojosa on the floor of the Texas House," he shared, noting "her courage, integrity, and passion."
"Together, we've fought to improve our public schools, lower prescription drug prices, and deliver working families across Texas," the senatorial hopeful added. "I'm proud to support my friend as she goes up against Greg Abbott and his billionaire mega donors."
Former Rep. Allred shared similar words of encouragement, warning that the Lone Star state requires new leadership because 'Greg Abbott's corruption has bled Texas dry - draining our schools, our hospitals, and our wallets to reward his billionaire donors."
Thank you @ColinAllredTX for endorsing my campaign for governor. I appreciate the trust leaders like Colin have placed in me to deliver real progress for Texans across the state. pic.twitter.com/7z2a9EEGor

"Gina Hinojosa has spent her life fighting for Texas families and taking on people like Abbott who think this state is for sale," he added, calling her "fearless, principled, and... exactly the kind of governor Texans deserve."
The support comes as Texas Democrats look to dramatically shift the political landscape in the state. However, despite the unity in backing Rep. Hinojosa's gubernatorial candidate, both Allred and Talarico are still engaged in a primary race that will result in one of them facing either Senator Cornyn, Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), or Rep. Wesley Hunt (R) in the 2026 election.
The question now remains: who, if anyone, will Rep. Hinojosa endorse for Texas Senator?
