John Cornyn
U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R) has expressed strong support following President Donald Trump's announcement of Ryan Raybould as the nominee for U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.
Cornyn highlighted Raybould's extensive legal expertise and public service experience, emphasizing his suitability to lead the Dallas U.S. Attorney's Office.
"Ryan served as my office's Chief Counsel for multiple years, during which time I saw firsthand how intelligent, judicious, and well-versed in the law he truly is," said Cornyn. "I was proud to recommend Ryan for this position, and I look forward to seeing how he will continue serving Texans in this role once confirmed."
He noted Raybould's prior work as a federal prosecutor and expressed confidence in his ability to serve Texans effectively once confirmed.
Ryan Raybould is currently a litigation partner at Kirkland & Ellis, specializing in government, regulatory, and internal investigations. When serving as Chief Counsel to Cornyn, he contributed to key legislation on national security, government accountability, and drug diversion control.
Before his work in the Senate, Raybould spent almost seven years as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Texas, including as Deputy Chief of the WHite Collar and Public Corruption Unit.
Cornyn, as well as Sen. Ted Cruz (R), recommended Raybould after a thorough selection process conducted by the bipartisan Federal Judicial Evaluation Committee (FJEC), which they established to identify highly qualified candidates for judicial and U.S. attorney positions in Texas.
