U.S. Senators John Cornyn (R) and Ted Cruz (R) have announced that they are beginning to accept applications to fill federal judicial vacancies in the Southern and Northern Districts of Texas.
Cornyn, a former judge and Texas Attorney General, emphasized the importance of selecting highly qualified jurists to uphold the rule of law.
I know firsthand how critical it is for our state to have the best and brightest jurist sitting on the federal bench and working to uphold the rule of law," said Cornyn."I encourage qualified Texans who are interested in serving to submit their applications to our committee."
Cruz echoes similar sentiments, describing judicial appointments as among his most significant responsibilities in office.
"Texans deserve principled, unwavering leaders who will defend the constitution, honor the rule of law, and serve with integrity," he said. "Texas is home to some of the nation's most brilliant legal minds, and Senator Cornyn and I will recommend exceptional candidates who embody those strengths."
The senators oversee the Federal Judicial Evaluation Committee (FJEC), a bipartisan group of leading Texas attorneys responsible for reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and making recommendations for potential nominees. Applicants are encouraged to submit their completed questionnaires and resumes by mid-November.
The announcement underscores the senator's ongoing effort to ensure that Texas has a strong and capable federal judiciary.
