Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against Roblox Corporation, accusing the gaming platform of failing to protect children from sexual exploitation and predatory behavior while misleading parents about the safety of its online environment.
The lawsuit alleges that Roblox "flagrantly ignored" both state and federal online safety laws, prioritizing profit over child protection.
According to the complaint, children in Texas have been repeatedly exposed to "sexually explicit content, exploitation, and grooming" through the platform.
"Roblox markets itself as a safe digital space of creativity, but in reality, it has become a breeding ground for predators," said Paxton in a statement. "We cannot allow platforms like Roblox to continue operating as digital playgrounds for predators where the well-being of our kids is sacrificed on the altar of corporate greed. Any corporation that enables child abuse will face the full and unrelenting force of the law."
The lawsuit is part of a broader campaign by Paxton's office targeting major technology and digital media companies over alleged child safety violations. Earlier this year, Paxton filed a similar suit against TikTok, asserting that tech giants have failed to safeguard minors from harmful and exploitative online content.

Roblox, which has more than 70 million daily active users, has faced criticism for years over moderation practices and user-generated content. The company has previously stated that it invests heavily in safety systems and employs thousands of moderators to monitor activity on the platform.
The suit, filed in a Texas district court, seeks injunctive relief, civil penalties, and other remedies aimed at forcing Roblox to comply with child safety laws and improve protections for minors online.
