This week, Senator Ted Cruz took a trip to sunny South Florida to be the keynote speaker at the Miami-Dade Lincoln Day Dinner, embracing the work that President Trump has done in office and laughing at his Democratic colleagues' "twitching" at Trump's presidency.

During his speech, the Texas Senator spoke about President Trump and his character, commending the actions he has taken over the course of his term. “Has there ever been a President of the United States with the energy and action and volume and velocity that President Trump has brought to the White House?,” Cruz questioned.

He recounted his “Democrat colleagues… twitching” at “3 years and two months” within President Trump’s term.

Sen. Cruz mentioned his time in the Senate as “Trump’s strongest ally” to which he received rousing applause from the audience.

He reflected on an anecdote where the President made light of Cruz’s ancestry, suggesting that his father had “killed JFK.” During the 2016 presidential election when both shared a rivalry, the controversial remarks were among a slew of conspiracy theories that were perpetrated at the time. One even questioned if Cruz was the Zodiac Killer.

In response to his father having "killed JFK," Cruz recounts that Secretary of State Marco Rubio, then-Senator, responded, “if a Cuban had done it, he would have told everybody.”

Despite their tense rivalry during the 2016 election, Cruz became one of President Trump's fiercest proponents, championing his policies and defending his administration amidst its controversies and conflicts.
