The House is voting on a bill that will force the Department of Justice to release all records on Jeffrey Epstein this week, and Texas Rep. August Pfluger is all in for releasing the files.
After months of Republicans fighting against the release of the files, Trump is now urging those in the House to back the measure.
Just last Wednesday, November 12, Democrat Adelita Grijalva provided the 218th signature on a discharge petition that would force the vote on the bill. At 218 signatures, the signatures are effectively frozen, meaning that no signatures can be removed. The bill is then forced to the floor where it must be voted on.
Trump recently stated that he is for the release of the files and that “50,000” pages have already been released. He claims that the Democrats were aligned with Epstein and that the entire situation is a “hoax.”
Rep. Pfluger pushed for the release of the records in an official statement. “I believe in transparency, and I believe in due process, and I am proud of the steps from DOJ, and by the way, Mike Johnson, our Speaker of the House, is working very, very hard to ensure that this is a fair process,” he said.
The vote is expected to occur Tuesday, November 18, in the afternoon.
