Vince Shlomi, an entrepreneur better known as the “ShamWow” guy, has officially entered the race for Texas’ 31st Congressional District. Also known for pitching the “Slap Chop,” Schlomi is looking to unseat incumbent Rep. John Carter (R-FL).
During an interview with Fox News Digital, Schlomi shared that he would run an “anti-woke” campaign, citing the assassination of Charlie Kirk as a motivating factor to enter the world of politics. He vows to “destroy wokism” and says that his goal is to end “political infighting in the country” and “make America happy.”
Schlomi reportedly filed over the weekend, submitting his paperwork under the name Offer Vince “ShamWow” Schlomi.
Rep. John Carter, who is an eight-term incumbent, and who is seeking re-election in the district, is facing a slew of challengers. Despite the mounting opponents, Rep. Carter is viewed as the clear frontrunner.
Schlomi gained household recognition in the 2000s for his infomercials, but the congressional hopeful has also amassed controversy over the years.
In October 2000, Schlomi sued Anna Nicole Smith for $4 million dollars, accusing her of agreeing to be in one of his films but backing out. In February 2009, he again faced controversy when he was arrested after an alleged altercation with a 26-year-old prostitute.
After the 2009 arrest, Schlomi commented that “people understand you make mistakes in life. Hopefully I won’t make another mistake.”
The Republican Primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026. If a Primary Runoff is necessary, it will take place on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
