President Donald Trump is reaching across the aisle to pardon Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX), who was charged in 2024 with accepting bribery funds from two foreign entities.
In 2024, Rep. Cuellar and his wife Imelda Cuellar were charged with accepting nearly $6oo,ooo in bribes dating between 2014 and November 2021. Both Rep. Cuellar and his wife deny the claims, and President Trump attributes the legal fiasco to a "witch hunt."
In a lengthy social media post, President Trump announced that Rep. Cuellar would be receiving his "full and unconditional" pardon, denouncing the "witch hunt," and suggesting that the Biden administration was behind it all.
"For years, the Biden Administration weaponized the Justice System against their Political Opponents, and anyone who disagreed with them," President Trump expressed on social media. "One of the clearest examples of this was when Crooked Joe used the FBI and DOJ to 'take out' a member of his own Party after Highly Respected Congressman Henry Cuellar bravely spoke out against Open Borders, and the Biden Border 'Catastrophe.'"
Rep. Cuellar and his wife were accused of accepting bribes in exchange for the Texas Democrat advancing the interests of a bank in Mexico and an Azerbaijan-controlled energy company.
President Trump, who attributed many of his legal woes to a similar "witch hunt," further accused President Joe Biden of going after the Cuellars because the Texas lawmaker was "speaking the TRUTH."
"[Democrats] will attack, lie, cheat, destroy, and decimate anyone who dares to oppose their Far Left Agenda, and Agenda that, if left unchecked, will obliterate our magnificent Country," the President claimed.
In response to the pardon, Rep. Cuellar shared his gratitude on social media, thanking the President "for his tremendous leadership and for taking the time to look at the facts." "This pardon gives us a clean slate," Rep. Cuellar declared.
"I don't know you, but you can sleep well tonight -- your nightmare is finally over!" President Trump concluded.
I want to thank President Trump for his tremendous leadership and for taking the time to look at the facts. I thank God for standing with my family and I during this difficult time. This decision clears the air and lets us move forward for South Texas.
