Texas continues to outperform the nation's labor market, adding 4,600 non-farm jobs and reaching a total of 14,343,800 non-farm positions in September, according to the latest employment data.
Over the past year, the state added 168,000 jobs, reflecting an annual non-farm growth rate of 1.2 percent, which exceeds the national rate by 0.4 percentage points.
Texan's civilian labor force also reached a new record high, registering 15,879,000 workers after growing by 21,700 people over the month. Year over year, the labor force expanded by 164,000 individuals, signaling continued workforce participation across the state.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.1 percent.
"Texas' job market and labor force continue to grow because we have a dynamic workforce system that fosters opportunity for businesses and workers alike," said Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Chairman Joe Esparza. "TWC will continue to provide the resources and support needed to keep this momentum and ensure that Texas remains a national leader in economic opportunity."
Among private-sector industries, Construction recorded the largest monthly job gain, adding 4,300 positions. Trade, Transportation, and Utilities increased by 2,000 jobs, while other services added 1,500 positions. Leisure and Hospitality stood out over the year, posting an annual growth rate of 2.2 percent, the highest among major industries.
"TWC's investments are key to the success of Texas's resilient workforce," said TWC Commissioner Alberto Trevino III. "Training programs, apprenticeships, and child care will enable Texans to prosper in our economy."
Governor Greg Abbott highlighted Texas' national standing, stating, "Texas is where free enterprise flourishes and jobs grow. That is why Texas leads all states with the largest 12-month job gains in the nation."
