A new scorecard released by NumbersUSA graded Texas lawmakers on immigration policy, assigning individual lawmakers letter grades based on voting records and policy positions. According to the grades, Texas received an overall grade of "C," reflecting what it characterizes as mixed adherence to its immigration priorities.
At the top of the rankings, several Texas Republicans earned A+ marks. Those lawmakers include Representatives Michael Cloud (R), Brandon Gill (R), Wesley Hunt (R), Troy Nehls (R), and Chip Roy (R), who all scored between 96% and 100%. Rep. Keith Self (R) was the only member to receive an A, with a 92% score.
In the B+ category, Senator Ted Cruz (R) earned an 83% rating, while a larger group of the Texas Delegation fell into the B range, which includes Reps. Jodey Arrington (R), Brian Babin (R), Dan Crenshaw (R), Pat Fallon (R), Craig Goldman (R), Ronny Jackson (R), Morgan Luttrell (R), Nathaniel Morgan (R), and Randy Weber (R).
Another nine members received B- grades, including Reps. John Carter (R), Jake Ellzey (R), Tony Gonzalez (R), Lance Gooden (R), Michael McCaul (R), August Pfluger (R), Pete Sessions (R), Beth Van Duyne (R), and Roger Williams (R).
The lower scores were notable, with Sen. John Cornyn (R) receiving a C+, and Rep. Henry Cuellar (D) earning a C-. Cuellar is the highest graded Democrat.
In the D category were Reps. Mónica de la Cruz (R) y Vicente González (D).
Eleven Democrats received F- grades, including Reps. Greg Casar, Joaquin Castro, Jasmine Crockett, Lloyd Doggett, Veronica Escobar, Lizzie Fletcher, Sylvia Garcia, Al Green, Julie Johnson, Sylvester Turner, and Marc Veasey.
NumbersUSA says its grading reflects a broader policy philosophy that emphasizes numerical limits on immigration, worker protections, and enforcement without targeting immigrants themselves.
The organization argues that a "credible system assures the public that anyone who works in America has a right to do so," while also warning that large-scale immigration disproportionately harms recent immigrants in low-wage jobs.
