Canadian Solar Inc. announced today that its energy storage subsidiary, e-STORAGE, has entered into supply and long-term service agreements with Sunraycer for two large-scale standalone battery storage projects in Franklin County, Texas.
The projects, collectively known as the Lupinus battery energy storage projects, will total 503 megawatt-hours (MWh) and are being developed by Sunraycer, a leading clean energy developer. The developments will support grid reliability and renewable energy integration within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market.
The Lupinus portfolio includes Lupinus 1, a 202 MWh facility scheduled to begin construction in the first quarter of 2027 and reach commercial operation by the third quarter of 2027. It also includes Lupinus 2, a larger 301 MWh facility expected to start construction in the third quarter of 2026 and come online in the second quarter of 2027.
Under the agreements, e-STORAGE will supply its SolBank 3.0 battery energy storage system and provide 10 years of long-term services, including performance optimization, system reliability support, and availability guarantees throughout the operational life of the projects.
The battery cells used in SolBank 3.0 are manufactured within Canadian Solar's global manufacturing network.

Colin Parkin, President of Canadian Solar and e-STORAGE, added that the collaboration builds on an established partnership.
"These systems will leverage our BESS Technology and service platforms to deliver long-term operational value and support the continued growth of reliable, utility-scale energy storage infrastructure across Texas," said Parkin.
The Lupinus projects are expected to play a significant role in stabilizing the ERCOT grid, one of the fastest-growing energy storage markets in North America.
As Texas continues to expand renewable generation, larger-scale battery storage is increasingly viewed as critical infrastructure for balancing intermittent power sources and meeting peak demand.
