Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has initiated legal action against the Anti-Fascist Committee, known as "Screwston", an Antifa-affiliated unincorporated nonprofit association, as part of an investigation into potential violations of Texas law.
According to the Attorney General's Office, the investigation is focused on determining whether Screwston engaged in unlawful activity, including aiding terrorism, coordinating violent conduct, and illegally "doxing" Texans by publishing private personal information to harass individuals.
"Radical leftists have engaged in coordinated efforts to militantly attack our nation and undermine the rule of law," said Paxton. "Screwston and related groups have illegally doxed Texans and encouraged violent terrorism against fellow citizens."
The AG's office stated that Screwston openly identifies itself as affiliated with Antifa, a far-left extremist movement that President Donald Trump previously designated as a terrorist organization.
Investigators are examining whether the group's actions constitute criminal or civil violations under Texas statutes governing terrorism, organized criminal activity, and public safety.
"Those deranged traitors will face the full force of law," said Paxton. "No stone will be left unturned, and no tool will be left unused."

State officials have also cited reports that individuals affiliated with Screwston participated in a recent armed assault on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Alvarado, Texas.
In addition, merchandise allegedly sold by the group has promoted violence against federal law enforcement officers, including ICE agents, raising further concerns about incitement and material support for violent activity.
As part of the investigation, Paxton has issued a formal request to xxamine Screwston. The request compels the organization to produce records, communications, and internal documents that may help establish the scope of any illegal conduct and the identities of individuals involved.
The investigation remains ongoing, but officials involved state that the inquiry is intended to protect public safety and ensure extremist organizations operating in Texas are held accountable.
