Governor Greg Abbott (R) issued a statement Tuesday night responding to President Donald Trump's 2026 State of the Union address, praising the president's leadership and outlining what he described as shared priorities between Texas and the White House.

"President Trump's message to the nation tonight was unmistakable: in its 2050th year, America is once again the world's premier superpower," said Abbott. "Our nation is strong, prosperous, and respected because we have, under President Trump's leadership, proudly returned to the common-sense principles on which our country not only thrives but which hardworking Americans firmly expect."

Gov. Abbott noted that President Trump's vision prioritizes national security, public safety, and economic growth.

"Since his return to office in 2025, President Trump has kept his promises, standing firm against the woke, leftist ideologies that undermine law enforcement, prioritize illegal immigrants, fuel inflation, drain Americans' pocketbooks, and deteriorate the integrity of fair competition by allowing boys in girls' sports," Abbott added.

The governor highlighted initiatives underway in Texas, including what he described as the most robust border security operation conducted by any state in U.S. history, efforts to ban foreign adversaries from purchasing Texas land, expanding parental control over education, and fostering economic prosperity across the state.

"I thank President Trump for his leadership and look forward to welcoming him to Texas this Friday -- the final Friday of early voting for the 2026 Texas Primary Election," Abbott added.

Trump's address comes as early voting continues ahead of the March 3 primary, with the President expected to visit Texas later this week.

Abbott's remarks underscore continued alignment between the state's leadership and the White House as the election season continues.
