The House of Representatives rejected a war powers resolution aimed at limiting President Donald Trump's military actions against Iran, with Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) among those denouncing the outcome.
The vote was 212-219, with four Democrats siding with Republicans to block it and two Republicans joining Democrats in supporting it. The vote comes as the Senate rejected a similar measure.
Rep. Crockett criticized Republicans for lacking resolve.
“Republicans in Congress once again refused to find their backbone and stand up to Donald Trump — giving him the green light to drag this country deeper into another dangerous, endless war in the Middle East,” she wrote on X.
She highlighted the human cost from a Sunday drone strike on a U.S. command center in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait. “Donald Trump went around Congress to start a war with Iran — a war that has already resulted in the deaths of six American soldiers,” Crockett commented.
The U.S. military identified those killed:

Crockett tied the conflict to broader economic strains.
“[President Trump] lied when he said he wouldn’t start new wars, and he lied when he promised to make life more affordable," she argued. "Now, here we are in the middle of a dangerous war costing taxpayers at least $1 billion a day, while many Americans are struggling to afford groceries, healthcare, and basic necessities.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) argued against curbing authority during operations. “We are not at war,” he said, calling the mission limited and nearly complete.
This left Crockett questioning when opposition would solidify.
“So I have to ask: when will it finally be enough for them to stand up to Donald Trump and put the American people first?” she asked.
