Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) suggested he could reconsider his U.S. Senate campaign if Republican leadership agrees to eliminate the filibuster and pass legislation he described as critical to advancing President Donald Trump's agenda.

In a statement posted on X, Paxton said the "Save America Act" is among the most important pieces of legislation the Senate could consider, and he seemingly tied his political future in the Senate race to its passage.

"The Save America Act is the most important bill the U.S. Senate could ever pass, and I'm committed to helping President Trump get it done," wrote Paxton. "I would consider dropping out of this race if Senate Leadership agrees to lift the filibuster and passes the SAVE America Act."

The Act would require individuals to provide proof of citizenship when they register to vote and present identification at the polls. Paxton also criticized Texas Senator John Cornyn, accusing him of refusing to support abolishing the filibuster to pass the bill.

"John Cornyn is a coward who has refused to support abolishing the filibuster to pass this bill," said Paxton in the post, claiming that "Fake News reporters and the establishment are trying to destroy me with misinformation."

Paxton framed his position as part of a broader effort to support Trump and advance the president's policy priorities in Washington.

"The truth is clear: No one has been more loyal to Donald Trump than me- fighting the stolen 2020 election, being in Mar-a-Lago when he announced his 2024 campaign, and standing with him in NY in the face of lawfare," wrote Paxton.

He concluded his statement by saying his focus remains on helping enact Trump's agenda in congress, writing, "For the good of our country and for the good of passing President Trump's agenda, I am determined to help him get this done."

If the U.S Senate is successful in passing the SAVE America Act, it could end Paxton's campaign run, making Incumbent Sen. John Cornyn the Republican nominee.
