A video from 2014 featuring U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R) speaking at a summit focused on persecuted Christians in the Middle East has resurfaced online, drawing renewed attention to his longstanding support for Israel and the Jewish community.

During the event, which brought together Christian leaders and activists concerned about religious persecution in the region, Sen. Cruz delivered remarks that quickly became controversial among some attendees. Early in his speech, Sen. Cruz criticized what he described as hostility toward Israel among certain participants after he stated that Israel was a key ally in preventing persecution.

"I am saddened to see that some here, not everyone, but some here, are consumed by hate," said Sen. Cruz during the address.

The moment that sparked the most reaction came later in the speech when Cruz delivered a blunt statement about his stance on Israel.

"If you don't stand with Israel and the Jews, then I will not stand with you," said Cruz.

The comment prompted boos from members of the audience, eventually forcing Cruz to end his remarks early and leave the stage.

The resurfaced footage has circulated again as Cruz continues to speak forcefully on issues related to antisemitism and U.S. support for Israel.

In recent remarks at a conference focused on antisemitism, Cruz sharply criticized political commentator Tucker Carlson over what he described as dangerous rhetoric. Cruz said Carlson's comments surrounding Israel and Jewish issues have crossed a line.

"I believe Tucker Carlson is the single most dangerous demagogue in this country," said Cruz during the event.

He has long positioned himself as one of Israel's strongest supporters in Washington, frequently advocating for close U.S.-Israel relations and condemning antisemitism both domestically and internationally.

The resurfacing of the 2014 speech highlights how Cruz's outspoken support for Israel has remained consistent throughout his political career.  More than a decade later, the Texas senator continues to frame the issue as a defining moral and political stance in America.
