Washington D.C. — Citing White Coat Waste’s (WCW) viral investigations, 19 Republican House members led by Congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ), including GOP Conference Chair Lisa McClain (R-MI), sent a letter to the House Appropriations Committee urging leaders to cut all National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for wasteful and barbaric transgender animal testing in the agency’s 2027 spending bill. Fox News broke the story this morning.
In their letter, the lawmakers write, “investigations by the non-profit White Coat Waste…have uncovered dozens of National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants issued under the Biden Administration by Dr. Anthony Fauci. These grants have funded disturbing experiments to create “transfeminine” and “transmasculine” lab mice, rats, and monkeys to mimic transgender human children and adults. The animals subjected to invasive surgeries and hormone therapies were subsequently wounded, shocked, injected with street drugs and vaccinations, and endured other disturbing procedures.”
The Republican letter has particular urgency given White Coat Waste’s latest finding that in January 2026, the NIH doled out $584,117 in new taxpayer funding to a University of California–San Diego grant paying to experiment on thousands of “female mice to model transgender men.”
This NIH grant for transgender animal experimentation was among those exposed by White Coat Waste in December 2024 and criticized by President Donald Trump in his March 2025 State of the Union address and cited by the White House.
Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), who serves on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, stated:
“Tax dollars shouldn’t be funding the Biden Administration’s sickening transgender animal tests. That’s why I’ve been working with White Coat Waste to stop the NIH and other federal agencies from wasting money on this woke pseudoscience ever again.”
White Coat Waste senior vice president Justin Goodman, who exposed NIH-funded transgender animal tests during a viral House Oversight Committee hearing last year, said:
“After White Coat Waste exposed millions in taxpayer-funded transgender animal tests, President Trump quickly put them on the chopping block—and cut them. Now, we’ve exposed that defiant NIH bureaucrats are bringing them back. Even though it didn’t have to, the NIH just doled out another half-million in taxpayer cash for a Biden-era experiment that crudely creates ‘female mice to model transgender men’ by cutting out their ovaries and pumping them with testosterone. Records obtained by White Coat Waste show this project will subject nearly 10,000 mice to horrific taxpayer-funded abuse—invasive surgeries and hormone injections meant to mimic transgender treatments, drilling into their skulls, injecting toxins into their brains, and ultimately decapitating them. White Coat Waste’s exposé of the NIH’s renewed funding to create ‘female mice to model transgender men’ proves that Rep. Gosar’s effort is vital to ensure taxpayers aren’t forced to bankroll these barbaric animal tests. The solution is simple: Stop the money. Stop the madness!”
