During the 2020 Democratic presidential primary race, Congressional Democrats, including all of the U.S. Senators running for president, praised the controversial Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's  “The Green New Deal” legislation  that they believe would end economic inequality and address “climate change.”

Just about every Democrat supported the “progressive” measure, many of those very same Democrats who had campaigned on the climate change idea abandoned it, and in the U.S. Senate, refused to vote on it.

The Green New Deal failed, but Progressives running for elective office like Texas congressional candidate Mike Siegel, are all in for the “socialist daydream” climate change measure.

Siegel is running as a true blue and unapologetic Progressive, who recently told the Texas Tribune that he believes “progressives” like himself are currently in “a place to lead.”

“I think this is the exact moment in history when progressives are in a place to lead, and it’s because the times have caught up the policies we’re fighting for,” Siegel said. “This is the time to run as a progressive. I feel really good not just about my chances, but the movement overall.”

Siegel’s energy initiative is not welcome news to the existing gas & oil-dominated energy sector, and considering that “oil and gas industries” make up the “backbone of the Texas economy” that employs tens of thousands of Texans, voters in the Lone Star state will not support the ‘GND’ that looks to shut down the oil industry.

Rep. Mike McCaul (R), the Republican congressman Siegel is challenging, is pushing back against Siegel’s oil sector job-killing initiative.

“The oil and gas industries are the backbone of the Texas economy. Mike Siegel doesn’t care, and he left San Francisco and came to Texas with the intention of waging war on Texas energy,” said McCaul Spokesman Evan Albertson “when it comes to the economy, Siegel is taking his cues from the Washington socialists. Siegel supports Bernie Sanders and AOC’s Green New Deal, which would destroy the Texas energy industry and eliminate hundreds of thousands of jobs. Siegel’s views in no way represent Texas’s 10th District,” said Evan Albertson.

“Siegel supports the radical Green New Deal that would declare war on the Texas oil and gas industries at a time when they are being crushed by the global pandemic. Siegel’s attack on Texas energy would eradicate tens of thousands of Texas jobs.”

With the COVID-19 pandemic taking a toll on oil jobs, voting for the Green New Deal is all-but a losing proposition from Texans.
