Just as the state of Texas fully reopening this week after a year-long shutdown and mask mandate, Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D) told her constituents on Twitter to "ignore he wrongheaded advice" from Gov. Greg Abbott and other officials involved in the state's reopening and lifting of the mask mandate, a move that she calls a "death notice" for Texans.

After Gov. Abbott announced that all restrictions  for large gatherngs and restaurants would be lifted, Rep. Lee asked her follower to contiue wearing mask, wash their hands, and socially distance themselves from other.

"The Texas Governor has announced that there will be no mask mandate, and there will be no restrictions on any form of entertainmentrestaurants, or any large gatherings starting tomorrow, March 10th," stated Lee. "I'm asking my fellow Texans to wear their masks, wash your hands, and socially distance to save lives. Let's ignore wrongheaded advice and do what is right to save lives...The people of Texas will get a death notice."

Lee previously stated when talk of the reopening began, “Does the governor not know that there are variants that are now expanding into the United States and that science does not know how deadly they will be?”

Texas Democrat Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa called Abbott’s announcement as “extraordinarily dangerous” and saying they “will kill Texans.” Beto O’Rourke, former presidential candidate and potential Abbott challenger in 2022, echoed Hinojosa’s dismay. “Abbott is killing the people of Texas,” he said, describing the repeal as “a death warrant for Texans.”

Lee voted along party lines to approve the House COVID relief stimulus bill.
