The U.S. House has officially voted to censure California Representative Adam Schiff (D).

Rep. Schiff is known for being an outspoken critic of former president Donald Trump (R).

In a close 213-209 vote, the House voted to pass the resolution that essentially reprimanded Rep. Schiff for his statements about Trump’s relationship with Russia.

Prior to the official vote, Rep. Schiff released a few statements on Twitter regarding his feelings on the censuring.

“To my Republican colleagues who introduced this sham resolution: You honor me with your enmity. You flatter me with this falsehood. Your words tell me that I have been effective in the defense of our democracy, and I am grateful.”

Schiff did not back down on his stance against Trump’s alleged actions, going as far as tweeting a link to the proposed “evidence.”

“Some are working overtime to excuse the facts and evidence of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election. All to protect Trump. And distract from his indictment. Here’s a reminder of just *some* of the evidence of collusion we uncovered:”

The vote to censure Schiff was not bipartisan, with most Republicans voting to pass the measure, and most Democrats voting against it.

Some representatives were very outspoken against the measure, such as New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D). Texas Representative Sylvia Garcia (D) stood by Schiff and stated her appreciation for his work.

“Adam Schiff is tough. Adam Schiff is smart. Adam Schiff gets the job done. And Adam Schiff holds the powerful accountable. Extreme MAGA Republicans are trying to punish our colleague for doing his job. I stand with @RepAdamSchiff.”

In other news, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) is, once again, lauding the efforts of his border security program, Operation Lone Star.

A statement released by the Governor says that the operation is focused on preventing illegal immigration and drug smuggling.

“Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), and the Texas National Guard are continuing to work together to secure the border; stop the smuggling of drugs, weapons, and people into Texas; and prevent, detect, and interdict transnational criminal behavior between ports of entry.”
