Texas representatives across the state took to social media to wish a "Happy Rosh Hashanah" to those who celebrate.
Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year and is considered a special day by many. It begins at sundown on September 15 and goes through nightfall on September 17.
The day also marks a time when politicians of different backgrounds take time to express well wishes to those who observe the holiday.
Texas Representative Vicente Gonzalez (D) took the time to wish his followers a “sweet Rosh Hashanah” along with a year of good tidings.
“I would like to wish a happy, healthy, and sweet Rosh Hashanah to those who celebrate in South Texas and around the world. May this next year be filled with blessings and joy!”

Texas Representative Veronica Escobar (D) who recently condemned the shooting of a Mexican national at the U.S.-Mexico border, hoped that the celebrators’ new year would be filled with virtue.

Texas Representative Wesley Hunt (R) wished his followers a “good year” going forward.
“Shanah tovah! Happy #RoshHashanah to our friends celebrating the Jewish New Year. May the new year be full of blessings!”
In other news, Texas Representative Greg Casar (D) announced that he is drafting federal legislation to require Texas’s electrical grid to be connected to the national grids.
“I am drafting federal legislation to connect Texas to the national electric grids,” said Rep. Casar.
The Texas congressman noted how Texans have been asked to conserve energy in order to prevent a blackout in the Texas power grid during one of the hottest summers on record.
“Whether we’re in the middle of a heat wave or a winter storm, Texas should be able to keep the lights on. This legislation will help consumers, improve the economy, generate more clean power, and save lives,” said Rep. Casar.
According to the statement, nearly 90% of Texas’s electricity is run solely through the state grid.
The weather in Texas can be brutal, with extremely cold winters and extremely hot summers. Because of this, Casar believes it is crucial that Texas is connected to the national grid.
Cities like El Paso and Jasper are connected to the national grid and did not suffer mass power outages in the rough Winter Storm Uri in 2021.
Earlier in the year, the state experienced extreme, cold weather conditions that heavily impacted its power grid, thus affecting its citizens.
