After Congress ousted former speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in a 216-210 vote, the position has remained void. However, Representative Steve Scalise (R-LA) has received House Republicans’ nod for speaker of the House.

Rep. Scalise’s speaker of the House nomination comes with much criticism and skepticism.

Earlier in Scalise’s career he met with a known klansman and white supremacist David Duke. This factoid is brewing controversy in the House and may affect his chances of becoming speaker.

"I personally cannot, in good conscience, vote for someone who attended a white supremacist conference and compared himself to David Duke," said South Carolina Representative Nancy Mace (R).

Regardless of the various thoughts on Scalise’s bid for speakership, he still faces the obstacle of securing enough votes to be elected. For this reason, many GOP lawmakers have questioned the decision to exit their closed-door meeting. Furthermore, much hesitation surrounds the idea of Scalise's nomination facing an official floor vote.

In other news, Texas Representative Dan Crenshaw (R) recently took to social media to denounce the Democratic Socialists of America’s blatant anti-semitism at a pro-Palestine rally in New York City.

In a tweet, Rep. Crenshaw tore into the racist and hateful speech, filled with anti-semitism, made by one of the rallying speakers. In the speech, the protester celebrated Hamas’ firing thousands of rockets at Israel.

“This is in New York City. Hamas supports the destruction of Israel, and the Democratic Socialists of America are perfectly fine rallying with people that praise Hamas’ terrorism. This disgusting antisemitism is excused and supported by the far left. It needs to end.”

After the terrorist organization Hamas’ surprise attack against Israel, the country has responded with drastic measures in order to secure the country and retake the Gaza Strip. Here’s an updated look at the Israel-Hamas War.

In the initial attack, Hamas took several Israeli citizens hostage and killed many of the captives. Along with the deaths of the Israeli citizens, the group of terrorists is responsible for the deaths of nine American citizens, as well.

Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant stated that the country would cut off the electricity, food, water and fuel of the Gaza region. Gallant has stated that the region will be under “complete siege”.
