Republican Lawmakers React to High Turkey Day Dinner Prices

With Thanksgiving just a couple of days away, Republican lawmakers around the country are blaming President Joe Biden (D) and so-called “Bidenflation” for the rising prices on Turkey Day.

For instance, after providing a quote from an article from the Daily Caller, Representative Eli Crane (R-AZ) said that the effects of the Biden economic plan are “sabotaging working families.”

““Overall, prices have risen by an astonishing 17.1% since Biden took office in January 2021, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. In that same time, real wages have declined by 2.1%.; Bidenomics is financially sabotaging working families,” said Rep. Crane.

Alongside President Biden, Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) blamed former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for rising prices, attributing meal costs to “reckless spending” over the years.

“From pilgrims at Plymouth Rock to the proclamation of a national holiday by President Lincoln, Thanksgiving is truly an American tradition,” said Rep. Mast. “But in recent years, that tradition has gotten incredibly expensive as we have seen the prices of Thanksgiving food - from turkeys to potatoes - skyrocket as a result of Biden’s failed economic policies.”

Rep. Mast referenced a survey produced by the American Farm Bureau Federation which demonstrated a 25% price increase in the average Thanksgiving meal costs since 2019.

“That’s a direct result of President Biden and Nancy Pelosi’s reckless spending in the past two years,” Mast stated. “As your Representative, I will continue to pump the brakes on their reckless agenda and push towards proven pro-growth policies.”

Most likely citing the same survey, Representative Andy Harris (R-MD) said that the White House can attempt to change the narrative regarding his economic record, but there’s no escaping that Americans “won’t be fooled.”

“This year, a Thanksgiving meal is 25% higher than it was in 2019. The Biden Administration can spin ‘Bidenomics’ as a success, but Americans in the grocery store checkout lines won’t be fooled,” said Rep. Harris.

Finally, Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) mentioned that the American people cannot continue to live with the policies of the current U.S. President.

“Due to record inflation caused by disastrous #Bidenomics, American families are facing the MOST EXPENSIVE Thanksgiving in our history. Turkey is up 7%. Bread is up 7.1%. Fuel is up nearly 10%. The American people simply cannot afford Joe Biden & his reckless policies!” said Rep. Gimenez.

Just days ago, President Biden signed a temporary spending bill to avoid a government shutdown.
