Biden Orders Strikes in Iran

In response to recent Hezbollah attacks against U.S. soldiers, President Joe Biden (D) ordered the U.S. military to send out retaliatory strikes against the Iranian militias.

When the attack happened, Pres. Biden was at Camp David spending Christmas with family. However, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan informed him of the Iranian-backed attack. The president is stated to have immediately ordered a response in the form of retaliation against Hezbollah.

The retaliatory strikes were conducted swiftly, less than 13 hours from the initial attacks. The strikes officially landed in Iran at around 4:45 a.m. Furthermore, the U.S. strikes reportedly “destroyed the targeted facilities and likely killed a number of Kataib Hezbollah militants.” The Kataib Hezbollah militants were joined by other militia who are stated to be backed by Iran as well.

Hezbollah has been involved in or supportive of various attacks against U.S. soldiers and Israel. On Oct. 7, the terrorist organization Hamas attacked Israel killing several people and taking multiple hostages in the process. The Iranian-backed group stood by the attacks and emphasized how they could have been much worse.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded in a quick fashion, promising to eradicate Hamas. Netanyahu has resisted calls for a ceasefire as the war ramps up and the death toll continues to grow.

Pres. Biden's handling of the Israel-Hamas war has drawn criticism from some in the GOP. In a speech aimed at GOP donors as well as potential voters, former president Donald Trump (R) blasted Pres. Biden. The former president made inflammatory statements that targeted Pres. Biden's response to the Israel-Hamas war.

Trump stated that he would protect Jews from anti-semitic attacks, as well as various Democratic lawmakers who have made anti-Israel statements. However, Trump has made several questionable remarks regarding terrorism.

Recently, the former president gave what many viewed as complimentary remarks toward the Iranian-funded terrorist group Hezbollah.

In a speech, Trump complimented the Iranian-backed terrorist Hezbollah, calling them “very smart.”

The disturbing comments were met with much criticism from many lawmakers, including those in the GOP.
